Our service regularly provides 3 or more winners out of the 6 races, and many of our members use the selections we provide to place their own individual bets.
It’s a great way for members to make additional profits beyond their participation in our Scoop6 / Jackpot entry.
We particularly recommend backing the selections in each race, using the Dutching method which is defined as:
“Dutching is a method used to divide a total stake over a number of selections in an event, so that the same amount is won regardless of which selection wins. This technique is useful when there are two or more outcomes you wish to back and have a specific amount to stake.”
To achieve the highest strike rate, you can dutch our Shortlisted Selections for each race.
Alternatively, to make larger profits from each winning race, you can dutch our Perm Selections for each race.
HOW TO PLACE “DUTCH” BETS
- CLICK HERE to load a free Dutching calculator.
- Look at the selections we have in a particular race, and the available prices from your chosen bookmaker or betting exchange.
- In the box labelled “Total Staked”, enter how much you want to bet in total on the race.
- Enter the available price for each of our selections; you do this in the boxes beside “Selection 1”, “Selection 2” etc. Please note, the prices you enter there have to be the decimal prices which are one number higher than bookmaker prices. For example, for 4/1, enter 5. For 5/1, enter 6. For 7/2, enter 4.5 etc.
- Click the “Recalculate” button, and the “Profit” box will show how much profit you’ll make on the race if any of the selections win. It’s an equal profit whichever selection wins.
Once you’ve tried this process a few times, it’s easy enough to use and get your bets on.
EXAMPLE
Here’s an example of this process being used in one of the Scoop6 races at Royal Ascot. We have 3 selections and want to dutch them with a £50 stake:
- Star Girls Aalmal at 9/2 (decimal odds 5.5)
- Noble Truth at 4/1 (decimal odds 5)
- Monaadah at 9/1 (decimal odds 10)
Using the dutching calculator, we enter our “Total Staked” as £50. For Selection 1, we enter the price of Star Girls Aalmal as 5.5 (4/1). For Selection 2, we enter 5 (4/1) for Noble Truth, and for Selection 3 we enter 10 (9/1) for Monaadah.
Then we click on the orange “Recalculate” button and this shows us:
Total Staked: £50.00
Return if any selection wins: £103.77
Profit: £53.77
So, we’ve backed three horses for £50 in total. Noble Truth won the race, so we are returned £103.77 which is £53.77 clear profit.
Dutching is a great way to back all of our selections in a race and to make an equal profit if any of them win.
Our service regularly selects the winner, 2nd, and 3rd in Scoop6 / Jackpot races, giving us the opportunity to make even more profits from Forecast and Tricast bets.
A Forecast bet is selecting horses to come 1st and 2nd in a race, while a Tricast bet is selecting horses to come 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
To achieve the highest strike rate, you can include all our Shortlisted Selections in your Forecast & Tricast bets.
Alternatively, to make larger profits from each winning race, you can include only our Perm Selections in your Forecast & Tricast bets.
HOW TO PLACE “FORECAST” OR “TRICAST” BETS
Forecast and tricast bets can be placed with any bookmaker. However, there are also bets offered by the Tote called “Exacta” and “Trifecta” bets which are exactly the same as forecasts and tricasts, the simple difference being that they are “pool bets” and, more often than not, they give better odds and therefore a better return.
You can place these bets directly with the Tote as follows:
- Go to https://tote.co.uk/racecards/ and click on your chosen race.
- Click on the “exacta” tab (for forecasts) or “trifecta” tab (for tricasts).
- Click the “Any” boxes for your selections to add them to your betslip.
- Enter your unit stake and place your bets.
These bets become easy to place with a bit of practise. Please remember, you need at least 2 selections for an Exacta and at least 3 for a Trifecta.
One other thing to note is, the more selections you cover, the more units you will stake as follows:
2 selections = 1 unit Exacta
3 selections = 6 unit Exacta, 6 unit Trifecta
4 selections = 12 unit Exacta, 24 unit Trifecta
5 selections = 20 unit Exacta, 60 unit Trifecta
6 selections = 30 unit Exacta, 120 unit Trifecta
Please check the total stake showing in your betslip before placing your bets, to ensure you don’t bet more than you intended.
EXAMPLE
Here’s an example in one of the Scoop6 races at Cheltenham Festival, where we have 3 selections as follows:
- Minella Indo
- A Plus Tard
- Protektorat
An “Exacta” bet on these 3 selections is 6 units. If we stake £5 per unit, our total stake is £30.
A “Trifecta” bet on these 3 selections is also 6 units. If we stake £5 per unit, our total stake is £30.
These 3 selections were the first 3 past the post – A Plus Tard in 1st, Minella Indo in 2nd, Protektorat in 3rd.
The Exacta paid out £99 from our £30 stake, for a £69 profit.
The Trifecta paid out £957 from our £30 stake, for a whopping £927 profit!
How many of those do you need to make great money? Not many!
Backing our selections in forecasts and tricasts is another great way for you to make large recurring profits with the Scoop6 Squad.
Our third and final betting strategy attempts to answer the question: What if I only want to back one selection per race?
In order to ensure long-term profits from backing a single horse per race, we need to identify value and so we have included a “True Odds” estimation with each selection.
The idea is, we can compare the “True Odds” against what is currently available with our bookmaker / betting exchange and only bet on the selections that represent value.
HOW TO PLACE “TRUE ODDS” BETS
- Choose a race, then use an odds comparison tool like Oddschecker to compare the available odds with our “True Odds” estimation for each selection. To allow an easy comparison, make sure the odds are in the correct format by going to “odds” in the top right corner and selecting “decimal” odds.
- If the odds available to you are higher than the “True Odds”, the selection represents a value bet.
- If the odds available to you are lower than the “True Odds”, the selection doesn’t represent value and should be left alone.
- In some races, there may be more than once selection that represents value. If you only wish to back one horse per race, we recommend choosing the selection with the largest difference between the available odds and the “True Odds”.
EXAMPLE
Here’s an example of this strategy being used in one of our Scoop6 races, where we have 4 selections. We have added an “available odds” column for comparison purposes:
NUMBER |
HORSE |
TRUE ODDS |
AVAILABLE ODDS |
2 |
champ |
7.58 |
8 |
3 |
crambo |
5.57 |
8.5 |
7 |
paisley park |
7.60 |
7 |
10 |
west balboa |
5.83 |
5 |
As we can see, the available odds for two of our selections – Champ and Crambo – are higher than the true odds, so both of these selections represent value.
However, we can see the available odds for Champ are only slightly higher than the true odds, whereas the available odds for Crambo are much higher than the true odds.
If you only want to back one selection in this race, you would therefore select Crambo.
Example Stake: £50
Return if selection wins: £425
Profit: £375
Crambo did in fact win this race, so we are returned £375 in clear profit from a £50 stake.
It’s important to note that with “True Odds”, the strike rate will be much lower than our “Dutching” strategy and most likely lower than our “Forecats & Tricasts” strategy too.
However, placing regular value bets is a proven way to make substantial profits from Horse Racing, and we’re therefore confident this strategy will produce very good results in the medium to long term.
